LaLiga takes PSG to court over Kylian Mbappé
LaLiga strikes back! While he seemed promised to Real Madrid after months of suspense and negotiations, Kylian Mbappé has, against all odds, decided to stay and extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
The president of the capital club, Nasser al-Khelaïfi, announced it in person on the lawn of the Parc des Princes just before the meeting against Metz this Saturday, after a day more eventful than ever.
The Spanish League, very upset on this subject, had already denounced this reversal of the situation through its president Javier Tebas. LaLiga did not stop there and published a press release in which it confirmed that it will take the case to UEFA but also to French and European justice.
“Faced with the possible announcement by Kylian Mbappé to stay at Paris Saint-Germain, LaLiga would like to point out that this type of agreement threatens the economic sustainability of European football, putting hundreds of thousands of jobs and the integrity of sport in the medium term.
Not only from European competitions but also from our national leagues. It is scandalous that a club like PSG, which last season lost more than 220 million euros, after having accumulated losses of 700 million euros in recent seasons (even declaring sponsorship income of very dubious amounts ) with a cost of sports staff of around 650 million for this 21/22 season, can face an agreement of these characteristics while the clubs which could assume the arrival of the player without seeing their wage bill compromised, find themselves without power sign it. For all of the above, LaLiga will file a complaint against PSG before UEFA, the French administrative and tax authorities, and before the competent bodies of the European Union, to continue to defend the economic ecosystem of European football and its sustainability.
On previous occasions, La Liga has already lodged a complaint against PSG for failing to comply with UEFA’s financial fair play following which UEFA severely sanctioned PSG. However, the CAS dismissed them in a strange resolution. » A firm decision that has not finished talking.
